Football Saturdays

Has this been an awesome year for football or what? My Crimson Tide has had one heck of a year already. It is so fun winning. Aside from that we have had some awesome Saturdays lately watching, playing, reading about, and loving football. Ryan has an Auburn helmet and we have had a difficult time getting him to take it off. He has worn it to Home Depot, Dunkin Donuts, the grocery store.... We drew the line at church. No football in church. We have spent more time in the yard than we have in our house (during daylight hours). The weather has been awesome. It has been a great fall. Today is the true test though...Alabama vs. Georgia. We will be in Alabama tonight visiting Darryl's family but will be glued to the TV for the kickoff. With a hint of scarcasm, there's Nothing like watching Alabama football with a bunch of Auburn fans. I am praying we win! Roll Tide!!

Shame, shame.

I know. I know. I have not been blogging. I have got to get caught up. Lots to report these days.

Bedtime discussions

Okay, tonight Ryan claims "I want to get married so that I can kiss you on the lips." I said, "okay, do you want to marry me?" He said, "yes, I want to marry you. Oh, but you are already married." Yes, I am.

Before Chase could walk he has always carried his lovey around in his mouth. Now, this was understandable when he couldn't walk, because he needed his hands for crawling. But now he continues to do it anyway. It is really a hilarious sight to see him carrying Binky all over the house and up/down the stairs with her in his mouth.

Class is over.

Well, today was all about the last day of class. Ryan and Chase will move up to Preschool 2 and Toddler 2. My baby Chase is not a baby anymore. Next week there will be no cribs and no high chairs. He is going to grow up really fast next week. But he is really ready. He loves playing with the big kids. I am really going to miss Ryan's teachers. They are some of the most fun teachers. It will be a great time for new beginnings. 3 days only now.

Today was also the last day of swim class. Yea!! We made it and Ryan has actually become quite fond of swim class. Still not sure if it is because of the swimming or the treat bribs (reference previous post). I was so proud tonight and got to watch everything up close. My face ached from smiling when we left.

Chase Understands

I am realizing more and more everyday that Chase understands a lot of what we say. On Sunday I asked him to go and throw something in the trash...and HE DID IT! I was like, wow. I had not shown him how to do that. He certainly knows what is the refridgerator, the laundry, the bath, upstairs, downstairs, lovie, and several others. He is trying to say some words. He is saying "HI" and "BI" with the most wonderful southern accent. He definitely knows the word "NO" and has no concern what-so-ever. The downside is he also knows what "time for night, night" means and now he runs and hides.

Angel Kisses

Lately, Ryan insists on giving me angel kisses. I have no idea who has taught him about angel kisses and I have been inclined to keep it a mystery. To most people they would seem like ordinary kisses on the check. However, given my great expectations of God, I know where they really come from. Who says that we can't see God and feel God. His angels have been giving me kisses. And I have actually been asking for some. I have been thinking about it a lot this week and I stumbled across this verse. "Keep on loving each other as brothers. Do not forget to entertain strangers (or loved ones), for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it." Hebrews 13:1-2. Every time I get one of these angel kisses I think about this now. I really do believe that kids experience God in a totally different way than adults do. Their lack of inhibitions and lack of need for reasoning gives them a greater ability for faith and hope. We make conscious efforts to look for God, but I think they see God without even thinking about it. I think we can learn a lot from them as we begin teaching them about faith.

I hope you have an opportunity to receive an angel kiss, and I hope that when you do, you recognize it as that.
